BIG CHANGES - Moving from my dream studio

Welcome to Art in Real Life #9! This month has been intense with moving from our home and my studio of 18 years. There is a lot that has gone into making the decision, and our home sold faster than anticipated, so we’ve been busy.

I’ve been going through every inch of my studio and our home to clean out, get rid of what is no longer needed, and trying to decide what that is. We are looking to downsize so I know I will be going through the process again from boxes when we move in to our next home, but we don’t know where that is yet, so that unkown adds an extra challenge. To be honest, this process feels drastic, and yet I have peace in the midst of the turmoil. There is even a seed of excitement growing in thinking, ‘What could be next?’

Video - Packing up my studio

I am thankful for the memories of joy-filled connection

I took a few moments to look through my photos for time spent in the studio. The space was well-used and for that I am truly grateful. It feels like the end of a chapter - maybe even an end to an era in my life. but it also feels like a new beginning.

As I look at the photos and pack up the studio, it is hard for me to imagine not being able to just go in and start making something, or taking a book from my library corner for inspiration. The important thing for me to remember is that all that went into making the studio space special is what I’m taking with me (what’s inside of me) to the next place.

As of today, our home is empty except for a few things in the studio. I have one more filming session in my studio this week, and then on to new things - the great unknown. In the meantime, here in Hillsboro, we are staying in our trailer in just the right cozy spot in the front of our daughter and son-in-law’s home, and having fun with our grandchildren.

As I am finishing writing this post sitting in our cozy trailer, the summer is beginning to wind down and a new season is approaching. This is a new journey and I hope to connect with you about the new season and how it impacts how we live an artful life.

I've been thinking about you, and wondering if you are going through any life changes too. I care about what is going on with you. If you have thoughts you would like to share, or ideas of what you would like me to feature on my blog, feel free to comment below or email me at valerie@valeriesjodin.com.

Onward and forward with faith for a beautiful future!

Valerie

PS. If you have been following my blog for a monthly activity, you will notice the conclusion of the Zodiac constellations from a biblical perspective was this month of August. I will include information on beginning that 12 month journey in the following blog post. Stay tuned for what’s next!
