Aries Constellation - April planner journal

Welcome to April’s planner pages with the biblical focus of the Zodiac constellation Aries.

Aries

The Zodiac constellation of Aries is a small group of stars marking the eighth constellation of God’s celestial story in the stars. This year the dates for Pisces are March 23-April 21, 2022, which according to the Hebrew calendar is the month of Nisan. Aries the ram is only made of four main stars.

In some classical traditions, the constellation of Aries is where the Zodiac begins because the sun was in Aries during the Spring equinox, but over time, the sun moved out of Aries at the equinox. In biblical astronomy, the beginning of the Zodiac begins with Virgo.

*

But when the right time came, God sent his Son [Aries], born of a woman [Virgo], subject to the law [Libra]. God sent him to buy freedom for us [Sagittarius] who were slaves [Scorpio] to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children [Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces].

Galatians 4:4-5 NLT

The name Aries means ‘ram’ in Latin and is usually is symbolized as a ram although some of the oldest Egyptian and Greek Zodiac maps portray Aries as a lamb as in this Egyptian constellation map below.

Nisan, the Hebrew month of March and April is associated with Aries. The Jewish historian Josephus said it was when the sun was in the constellation of Aries that his people were set free from bondage of Egypt, where a lamb was sacrificed and its blood put on the door frame of the homes on the first Passover on the fourteenth day of Nisan. (Exodus 11)

It is interesting that since that time, almost fifteen hundred years later, on the fourteenth day of Nisan, it is likely that the sun stood in the head of Aries above where Christ was crucified.

*

“And they sang in a mighty chorus:
’Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered—
to receive power and riches
and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.’”

Revelation  5:12 NLT
*

Yeshua/Jesus became one of us to live and died for us as the Lamb symbolized in Aries, and was resurrected on the third day as the One who reigns.

*

“Yeshua came and talked with them.
He said, ‘All authority in heaven and
on earth has been given to me.’”

Matthew 28:18 CJB

Stars of Aries

The Hebrew name for Aries was Taleh, meaning Lamb, and the Arabic name, Al Hamal, meaning Lamb, head of the Ram, Sheep, Gentle, and Merciful, and is also the name of the brightest star in the constellation, Hamal. In the Syriac language, Aries is called Amroo which also means Lamb, referring to a lamb that is sacrificed. The Akkadian name for Aries was Bara-ziggar, meaning ‘The Sacrifice of Righteousness.” Bar means ‘altar’ and zigged means’ right making.’

The brightest star, Hamal, also called Alpha Arietis, has also been referred to as El Natli or El Natik, meaning wounded, slain.

The second brightest star of Aries is Sheratan, the Arabic word for "the two signs”, and also referred to as meaning bruised or wounded.

Masartim is the third star of Aries, meaning ‘The Bound’

*

He was wounded for our rebellious acts.
He was crushed for our sins.
He was punished so that we could have peace,
and we received healing from his wounds.

Isaiah 53:5 NOG

*

When we were utterly helpless,
Christ came at just the right time
and died for us sinners.

Romans 5:6 NLT

Hope found in Aries

The hope in Aries is found in the Lamb of God, Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus the Messiah.

Aries is the final constellation in the group that  presents pictures of salvation’s blessing with Aries meaning the blessing of salvation is fully realized in the person of Yeshua/Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

*

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said,
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John 1:29 NKJV

*

Instead of looking to the stars for guidance, we each are personally invited into a life-giving relationship with the One who made them and whose story is written in the stars.

*

“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying,
“Now have come God’s victory, power and kingship,
and the authority of his Messiah;
because the Accuser of our brothers,
who accuses them day and night before God,
has been thrown out!
“They defeated him because of the Lamb’s blood
and because of the message of their witness.
Even when facing death
they did not cling to life.”

Revelation 12:10-11 CJB

*

Then the One sitting on the throne said,

“Look! I am making everything new!”

Also he said, “Write, ‘These words are true and trustworthy!’’

Revelation 21:5 CJB

*

We have hope indeed!

He is risen!

Even though Cetus the sea monster constellation dominates this star map by Ignace Gaston Pardies, 1636-1673, it also shows a good representation of our last three Zodiac constellations together: Aquarius, Pisces and Aries.
