Aquarius Constellation - February planner journal

Welcome to February’s planner pages with the biblical focus of the Zodiac constellation Aquarius.

If you are looking for planner set-up inspiration, you will find numerous Planner blog posts and Word of the year tutorials from previous years in the blog menu.

Aquarius

Aquarius is the modern Latin name for the constellation, meaning ‘the pourer forth of water’ or the water bearer. It is the sixth Zodiac constellation of God’s celestial story in the stars. This year the dates for Aquarius are January 23, 2022 - February 21, 2023, which according to the Hebrew calendar is the month of Sh’vat.

Aquarius - Bode 1801

Like Capricorn, Aquarius is a large constellation that doesn’t stand out in the night sky. Its most distinguishable feature is the configuration of the ‘Y’ shape of stars. The picture of Aquarius is often a figure pouring out an endless flow of water coming from a water jar into the mouth a fish, a small constellation called Pisces Austrinus (The Southern Fish).

In some ancient maps and writings from the East, a figure is not a part of the constellation, but is shown as a water jar with water pouring out of it into the mouth of a little fish. This description correlates with the Hebrew name for the constellation which is Deli, meaning Water Jar, and the Arabic name Delu, also meaning Water Jar.

This constellation of Aquarius promises the Holy Spirit would be poured out into the people. It’s a picture of God pouring out the lavish blessing of His Presence through His Spirit. The sacrifice of Christ, shown as Capricorn, the Sea Goat, brings resurrection power of His Spirit being poured out as life-giving water into His people.

Jesus spoke of living water being  poured out into believers in John 7:

On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds,
“Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink!
For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’
(When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit,
who would be given to everyone believing in him.
But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)

John 7:37-39 NLT

Prophecy fulfillment of Aquarius

This prophecy of Aquarius is stated in Joel was fulfilled in the Upper Room on Pentecost in Acts 2.

‘And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions.
Even on the male and female servant in those days I will pour out my Spirit.’
Joel 2:28-29 ESV

‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy.’
Acts 2:17-18 NLT

‘When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us,
not because of the righteous things we had done,
but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins,
giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
He generously poured out the Spirit upon us
through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and
gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.’
Titus 3:4-7 NLT

David the psalmist says of the LORD:

‘For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.
Pour out your unfailing love on those who love you;
give justice to those with honest hearts.’
Psalm 36:9-10 NLT

Stars of Aquarius

There are 108 stars in the constellation of Aquarius, four of 3rd magnitude. Stellar magnitude measures the brightness of a star. The lower the number, the brighter the star.

  • The brightest star of Aquarius, typically shown at the right shoulder of the Water bearer is called Sadalmelik, from the Arabic Al Sa’d al Malik, meaning ‘the record of the pouring forth.’

  • The Arabic name for the star at the left shoulder is called Saad al Sund (Sadalsuud), meaning ‘who goes and returns’ or ‘the pourer out.’

  • The third bright star in Aquarius in Hebrew is Scheat, meaning ‘who goes and returns.’ These suggest there is a first and second coming of Christ, and HIs Spirit is poured out on HIs people between His first and second coming.

  • The fourth brightest star, found to the left of the left shoulder in the star map is called Mon or Meon in Egyptian, and simply means ‘an urn.’

The living water poured out is personal

Jesus talked about this living water being deeply personal when he talked with the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4 of the Bible. The whole chapter is worth checking out, but here are the verses that directly related to living water:

Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift
God has for you and who you are speaking to,
you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”…
”Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.
But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again.
It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
John 4:10, 13-14 NLT

The constellation illustration below show how close Capricorn is to Aquarius, the Water Bearer. These, along with the next constellation Pisces are related in their rich symbolism of our relationship with the God of the Cosmos.

’The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.
And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead,
he will give life to your mortal bodies

Seek Him Who made the [cluster of stars called] Pleiades and [the constellation] Orion,
Who turns the shadow of death or deep darkness into the morning
and darkens the day into night,
Who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out
upon the face of the earth—the Lord is His name—
Amos 5:8 AMPC
