March 2022 Planner Journal Set-Up

Flip through video & photos

Approaching setting up the calendar for this month, I knew I needed it to be a simple process, so I simplified the supplies, colors, and techniques, shown in last year’s blog tutorials. I found I didn't need to compromise on the results, which is encouraging.

March's moon is called the worm moon because it's the time of year when the ground starts to soften and earthworms blaze their underground trails, loosening the earth. Since birds are one of my fav's I've included them in the theme.

Here is a flip-through video of March’s planner journal pages.

I chose to repeat some of the same headings, such as my thankful page, using the same stencils and styles of titles, and added flying birds cut from painted music paper on the gratitude and workflow pages. I only used two colors of watercolor, Indigo and Quinacridone gold, plus some gold metallics. There is a list of supplies at the end of the blog.

For 2022 I’ve decided to feature a hymn on the cover spread for the month. Usually the hymns have the theme of the cosmos, majesty of God and nature. This month’s hymn focuses on God’s holiness. Holiness is often an illusive concept that may seem unreachable, unattainable, and wrapped in the mystery and awesome majesty of God.

I looked up some definitions of ‘holy’ and summarized and wrote it to fit in my journal.

HOLY ~ entitled to worship with profound reverence because of divine character or origin or connection with God; To be set apart for God, pure, perfect, transcendent, veneration, and awe.

Scripture inspired the hymn Holy, Holy, Holy in Revelation 8, and others:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty (Omnipotent)

Who was and Who is and Who is to come…
Worthy are you, our Lord and God to receive
the glory and the honor and dominion,
for You created all things;
by Your will they were brought into being and were created.
Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like you, glorious in holiness,
awesome in splendor, doing wonders?
Your strength to Your holy habitation.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts:
The whole earth is full of His glory.”

Revelation 4:8,11 ~ Exodus 15:11,13 ~ Isaiah 6:3 AMPC

Holy Holy Holy

Verse 3
Holy, holy, holy Though the darkness hide Thee
Though the eyes of sinful man Thy glory may not see
Lord, only Thou art holy and there is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love and purity

Verse 4
Holy, holy, holy Lord God almighty
All Thy works shall praise Thy name
in earth and sky and sea
Holy, holy, holy Merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed Trinity

Verse 1
Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning my song shall rise to thee
Holy, holy, holy Merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed Trinity

Verse 2:
Holy, holy, holy All the saints adore Thee
Casting down their golden crowns
around the glassy sea
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be

Pages in my journal

Using stencils and digital download papers made the set-up go much faster for me. Making calendar pages each month has been a fulfilling practice for me and provides a record and guidebook for daily living. It helps me go onward and forward, looking upwards.

May you be blessed with
health and hope,
Valerie
