The Creativity of The Creator - Bible Journaling

Evidence of the Great Creator is all around us. The name of God, Elohim, found at the beginning of the Bible begins with the Creator in the act of creating. Bible journaling the creation story in Genesis 1 has helped me connect with God in a deeper way as my Creator. It has also encouraged me as a co-creator with God.

Looking up the meaning of “Elohim” and the Hebrew spelling and meaning of the letters has brought a richer understanding of God as Creator.

“The name Elohim contains the idea of creative and governing power, of omnipotence and sovereignty.” In Genesis 1-2:4 Elohim is used alone appearing 35 times. By His mighty power, Elohim speaks & creates the vast universe. “It is most appropriate that by this name God should reveal Himself - bringing cosmos out of chaos, light of out darkness, habitation out of desolation, and life in His image.”                   - Nathan Stone, Names of God, p. 12

Here is a short, fun, visually informative video about the Name Elohim:

Using the shape of the Creator’s Star to hold the days of creation and the day of rest in the center, I was struck by the days opposite one another. For example, water and sky on the second day of creation is the habitat for the birds of the air and fish of the sea…

How amazing that God instructs and invites us to create with Him, to be fruitful, to multiply, to bless…
