A-Z of Mystery Journal - C - Creativity

]Any time I get to comment, visually or in words, about Creativity it is a pleasure. The challenge is how to choose what will go on the page. There are so many wonderful quotes by inspirational people, and so much possibility. When looking up the definition, any time the word "create" was used, I referred to that definition and included some of those words to expand and clarify the definition:

cre-a-tiv-i-ty - the state or quality of having the power to cause to come into being as something unique - the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships - to create meaningful ideas, forms, methods, interpretations; originality, imagination

Part of being human is being able to make choices about what we make, and how we make things. Like the Great Creator, we are inherently makers. Often it is a mystery where ideas come from, connections are made, and even the childlike activity of playing can yield world changing results. There is nothing like getting lost in a creative project and the thrill of the "aha" moment. As Julia Cameron says,

"Mystery is at the heart of creativity. That, and surprise."

]Spirituality and creativity are twin companions for me. They always come together.  In Brad Jersak's book Can You Hear Me? He says:

"Spiritual Epiphanies and human creativity are both examples of
an imagination tuned into the Creator's wavelength.
Spirituality is creative; creativity is spiritual.
Imagination provides the venue for both."

I agree!

"God is constantly creating in us, through us, with us,
and to co-create with God is our human calling."

Madeleine L'Engle

"We are empowered within our own
God given imaginations by the first poet,
the primal artist, the original composer.
Our own creative spirits, made in the image of another
are boosted and blessed and set on fire
by our union with God in Christ."

Luci Shaw

"It's not just about Creativity
,it's about the person you're becoming
while you're creating."

- Charlie Peacock

The materials I used for this page are consistent with the other pages in the A-Z of Mystery journal: pencil, eraser, Micron pen set, and Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. Just as I was finished the colored pencils, the stencil proofs for two new stencils I designed, made by StencilGirl Products® came. I decided to add some of the stencil shapes around the drawing on these pages with a silver Gelato® from the Dolce II set, and the 4x4" stencil. I really like how it subtly gives the impression of movement and a creative flow. It will be available soon along with a 6x6". I will post more about it when it is available.
